With summer in all its glory, it’s going to be a tough time for the kids to run in the soccer field. The onus is on the coaches here to keep the little players refreshed and energetic even under the scorching heat. So, how do you keep your kiddo soccer stars fit and fine during summer? The post below offers some expert tips to be followed.
Water is important
Summer means sweating and more so when the game involves constant running and dribbling under the sun. You must encourage the kids to get plenty of fluid before as well as during & after practice. The body weight of a young player is composed of 65% water. If he loses out on the fluid portion even by a little bit- it’s going to be troublesome for his entire body system. You don’t let the players wait till they have crashed due to dehydration or they are feeling extremely thirsty. Make them drink in plenty at least 2 hours before the start of practice or the match. After that, they must sip on water at constant 20 minute intervals.
Keep them cool & relaxed
Extreme heat agitates both the body and mind. Thus, along with the body, you have to take care of the mental wellbeing as well. You can suggest them to play some game indoors like PokerQQ that will keep them calm and also enhance their attention and focus. Some of the workouts, if possible, should be performed indoors as well.
Light exercises outside
Now, it can’t be denied that the matches will be played out in the field under the terrible sun. So, you can’t keep them inside for long as after all they are the ones who will have to play in the sun. The trick here is to gradually acclimatize them to be active in heat. You can follow a routine of 7 to 10 days of practice under the sun. But make sure to give them moderate exercises so that things don’t take toll on their health. Besides, there must be water breaks after each 20 minutes.
